Mapbox Telemetry

Mapbox are a company that provide and update the maps that we use in Smart24, as well as providing us with a software development kit (SDK) for adding new mapping related features.

When you move significantly (for instance during travel), the Mapbox SDK sends anonymised telemetry back to Mapbox to help them improve the underlying map data (OpenStreetMap) and in order to understand things like the road traffic conditions. The specific details of the telemetry, and how Mapbox protects your privacy, are described here:

You can opt out of sharing your telemetry with Mapbox by clicking on the information icon in the corner of the Map page:

Note for iOS users: Mapbox telemetry, when enabled, performs 'region monitoring' and wakes the app, even if it is closed, when you exit a 300m region around the location where you came to rest.
