Adding a Speed Zone Geofence to the Grid

A Speed Zone Geofence is a geographical boundary that can be created to set specific speed zone thresholds on your map. Whenever a device is going over the set speed threshold inside the geofence, an alert will be triggered to create notifications on your platform.

The speed zone geofence editor is found in the main toolbar on the left of the screen. From there you can view, create, modify and delete your speed zone geofences.

To create a new speed zone geofence:

1. Click “Geofence” on the main toolbar. 
2. Click “Add Speed Zone”.
3. Choose a short descriptive name for the new speed zone geofence.
4. Set the status of the speed zone geofence as “Active” or “Inactive”. Inactive geofences do not trigger alarms/alerts. 
5. You can optionally add a description of the speed zone geofence. 
6. Choose the shape of the speed zone geofence (polygon, circle, path or box)
   Polygon: a two-dimensional shape formed with straight lines, closing in a loop to form a closed chain or circuit.
   Circle: a circle is initially drawn, which can then be reshaped to your required shape.
   Box: a square is initially drawn, which can then be reshaped to accommodate your desired shape.
   Path: when selecting Path, a new field is displayed where the user will need to add the width of the path in metres. 
7. A speed zone geofence must be assigned to at least one group. This determines which devices are 'monitored' by these geofences.
8. Select the “Speed Threshold” for the geofence and select the speed “Unit”. The “Unit” can be set as KPH, MPH and KNOTS.
9. Click on the map to start drawing and double-click to finish drawing the speed zone geofence shape.
10. Editing shape options are available: Re-shape allows you to reform the shape, Drag allows you to move its destination, Rotate will move the shape around on an axis, and Resize allows you to increase or decrease the size of the speed zone geofence.
11. Save the speed zone geofence or click cancel to discard any changes you have made.
