Please see below for some tips and tricks on avoiding overages:
- When testing panic alarms, remember to reset the alarm fully before switching the device off. If this is not done, then it may still be in panic mode when you next switch it on.
- Sometimes you may increase the reporting rate, for example to every 5 minutes, whilst on a high risk deployment. Remember to decrease this back to the standard 15 minute reporting rate when off deployment.
- Don't overuse the messaging functionality. Messages take up more bytes than a simple position report, so if you are having full conversations through two-way messaging on a satellite device, you may use up more of your package than expected.
Please note, enabling AES-256 encryption on a device means all of your satellite communication will take up more bytes than unencrypted communication. As such, you'll use up your satellite package slightly quicker. However, Track24 does recommend opting for encryption wherever possible.
